I tried updating the driver through Device Manager through the automatic updater, but it didn't work. I don't really want to uninstall it just in case it is an important driver which I actually need. You see numbers something like below,,, search online and you can probably figure out what the unknown device is and hopefully find the driver online for it. Was this reply helpful? But what I would try is to go ahead and delete it and hope when I restart the computer, then windows will find new hardware and also find the driver it must need.
Last resort maybe download, and after scanning with a virus scanner, install temporarily a driver updater program and read how to use it carefully. I have the same question 1. Report abuse. Details required :. Cancel Submit. Double click your unknow device and the properties windows opens. Click on the Details tab then in the dropdown box select 'Hardware ids' You see numbers something like below,,, search online and you can probably figure out what the unknown device is and hopefully find the driver online for it.
